Impact of Dust and Sand on 5G Communications for Connected Vehicles Applications

Recent research activities are focused on improving Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication (V2V) based the 5G Technology. V2V applications important because they expected to reduce risk of accidents up 80%, enhance traffic management, mitigate congestion, and optimize fuel consumption. Typical autonomous vehicle require a high bandwidth transmission channel, so communication channel might be reliable solution support this technology. The dedicated short-range communications (DSRC), characterized by frequency 5.9 GHz, were used as vehicular connectivity with 200 mb/s limited capacity, it is here utilized for comparison 5G. band can connected vehicles higher data rates larger bandwidth. suitable since has very in millimeter waves spectrum range. quality wireless channels between affected weather conditions such rain, snow, fog, dust, sand. In paper, effect dust sand propagation presented. path loss DSRC investigated case Urban area Highway condition. Results show that attenuation caused depends particle size sand,frequency propagating wave, concentration dust. Finally, new model link margin proposed estimate (5.9 GHz) (28 GHz-73.5 loss.
